Lafarge Exshaw secures $5 million in funding for carbon capture project

Lafarge is assessing the technical and economic feasibility of carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) at the Exshaw Cement Plant.

The project was one of 11 in the Province that received a commitment from the Government of Alberta through Emissions Reduction Alberta’s Carbon Capture Kickstart: Design and Engineering funding competition.

The study represents the first stage of significantly larger overall project plan. The project will be key to positioning Lafarge Exshaw to be Canada’s first net-zero cement plant.
