To assist with the communication of public health measures on Stoney Nakoda Nation, Lafarge sponsored a radio program featuring Elders speaking about the importance of COVID-19 safety measures and precautions. These public service announcements have been running regularly on CFIR 88.5 radio in Morley.

Elder Lawrence Crawler

Elder Lawrence Crawler was one of the participants in this program. Now retired, he spends his time training rodeo horses and looking after his family’s cattle operation. He participated in Senior Pro Rodeo and won the tie down roping competition in 2017. In his radio message, Elder Crawler urged Stoney youth to look after themselves and care for others in the community in order to overcome all of life’s obstacles, not just COVID-19.
