Mining and blasting locations are shifting now that Lafarge’s Back Mountain Project is underway. There is an increased chance of rockfall from work that is currently being done on top of the ridge as part of this multi-phase, multi-year project. To make it clear this is an active mine site, Lafarge has installed new trail signs along Exshaw Creek to direct pedestrians and cyclists toward bridges and away from these areas.

People have been seen entering these areas, despite the warming signs, and this is a serious concern. Safety is a priority for Lafarge. Please respect these signs and keep yourself safe. The work being completed is within the Lafarge leased-land and operating permits.
